I like this paper!

Page 1 of a 2 page comic. I was just testing out risograph colors, in case you were wondering what this is for!

I’m excited to come to the Brooklyn Comics & Graphics Festival on Saturday, November 10th! Please please come say hello to me! This is my first time in the US in about 3 years, and I’ll only be in town for a few days.
I’ll bring copies of SF#1, SF#2, and the Supplementary Files, as well as some copies of Two Eyes of the Beautiful I & II. I have some work in a couple recent anthologies, too! I drew the cover for and made a cool story for Retrofit Comics’ Secret Prison #7 - yeah, that’s the supersized manga/GARO inspired issue! - and I have a tiny, neat story in the teency weency Kus Comics Anthology #12, which was co-edited by Annie Koyama. I haven’t even seen these books in person yet! I’m stoked! I would love to sign them and draw a picture in them, if you ask me!
((BTW, I’ll just mention here… I want to sell some original drawings, to help pay for this trip all the way from Japan. Would you like to buy your favorite page from my comics? Priced from $30 per small page, to $200 for a full-size double spread… “Just ask…”))
See ya there!!

This is “Armorio’s Space Bar.” I know what you’re thinking: “You’ll never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.” You’re right!

First photo:

Ugh wtf Risograph why are you not scanning the cover right? See the bottom sheet is my original, and the sheet on top is what’s getting spit out.

Second photo:

Actually I finally worked around this problem just now. I don’t know why it was happening but it has something to do with the Risograph not reading the large black area.

Here’s where you can see the last thing I drew on the book. You might notice that the first batch had a different character peaking out on the back cover. That’s fun, right?

Today I will attach the cover to the collated guts (I think that’s a word that means: the non-cover pages inside). Tomorrow I’ll crop them and send orders out in the mail. BTW I got sick last weekend but I am glad that my timeframe seems to be working out well. Yes, I’m cutting it close. But… I think it’s gonna be okay…

SF#2 - it’s a new zine, IMO you should get it!! Debuting at SPX, and you can order it, too.

  • 6 5/8” x 9”
  • 36 pages
  • Risograph printed with soy ink on recycled paper
  • available in 2 colors
  • 6 bucks
  • It’ll be at the Retrofit Comics table at SPX!

Basically, it’s about a little boy named Hupa Dupa whose parents were killed by Space Pirates, so he gets adopted by the Space Fleet Scientific Foundation Special Forces and joins a galactic war. The story is inspired by Matsumoto Leiji’s great space opera manga Queen Millenia.
